The mission of the TELUS Fixed Wireless Access DevOps team is to design, deploy and operate our Wireless packet core serving WHSIA (Wireless High Speed Internet Access) network. We do this with our focus on product strategy, software development, automation and optimization of core network technology.


What you’ll do


  • End-to-End Engineering & Customer Analytics:
  • Exploring Big Data from both technical and market sources, you will support the strategy that predicts future needs and proactively evolves the network
  • Wireless Core Optimization for Industry-Leading Performance:
  • With a constant focus on customer experience and industry trends, you will support on-going improvements to our core network ensuring the best customer experience
  • Part of a small agile team
  • Help facilitate the product development process for a Kanban team by facilitating Agile ceremonies, aiding in the removal of any impediments and shielding the team from any distracting influences.
  • Close Collaboration with all Technology DevOps teams:
  • Given the increasingly accelerated technology lifecycles, interaction with other technology teams is key - optimization, performance management as well as design and capacity teams
  • Clearly see things from the perspective of a customer

What you bring


  • Visible champion and spokesperson for change and a strong end to end ownership culture mindset towards product and end customer experience
  • Know how to architect and deploy secure and robust services/applications on private cloud using NFV infrastructure and SDN (Openstack, Openshift, Contrail)
  • Familiar with cloud principles and what makes a service cloud native
  • Regarded for your knowledge of 3GPP (IMS/LTE/UMTS/HSPA/5G) wireless core standards, including end-to-end signaling and traffic flows and interworking with RF
  • Distinguished for your knowledge of IP design including TCP/IP, VPN concepts in IP/MPLS multi-vendor environment, Cisco, Nokia and Juniper routing/switches, DNS, Diameter, network management, and security
  • Experience in the wireless core network, especially Evolved Packet Core (EPC - PGW, UPF), security(Firewall/NAT)
  • Confident in your presentation and communication skills, and knowledge sharing
  • Recognized for your 5+ years of relevant professional experience with active participation leading complex initiatives
  • With a Bachelor degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related fields

Great-to-haves


  • Knowledge of CI/CD DevOps best practices and the tools used to implement them
  • Knowledge and experience with scripting and automation, ex. Ansible, Python, Java, C#, Javascript, Go, etc.
  • Experience as a facilitator working as a Scrum Master or other equivalent team facilitator / coach role with Kanban or ScrumBan
